The Teddy Bear Toys for Tots RoadRally is a holiday charity rally run by the Northern New Jersey Region of the SCCA and the Motorsport Club of North Jersey. The 2026 edition starts at Subaru World of Hackettstown on Sunday 13 December, per the organizer’s registration page.
The organizer’s page calls it the 37th annual rally and says Subaru has sponsored it for the past 36 years. The SCCA event listing calls it the 36th annual. The two sources disagree on the count; the date and place match.
The schedule
In-person sign-in starts at 10:30am. The drivers meeting is at 11:30am. The first car leaves at noon, per the organizer. No finish time or finish location is published.
What kind of rally it is
It is a 60-mile course-following GTA rally on paved roads, and the organizer says no math or timing equipment is needed, only a working odometer, a pen and paper. A clipboard helps. Teams follow the route instructions and watch for photo clues that test observation. Scoring is based on how closely a team follows the official route. SCCA’s RoadRally guide explains the GTA format in more detail.
Classes are Experienced, Intermediate, Novice and Beginner, with awards for first and second in each of three classes. Special awards go to the best first-timers, best Subaru, best SCCA team, best PCA team, best family, best couple and the last team to finish.
What it costs
The entry fee per car is a brand new teddy bear or unwrapped toy worth at least $35 retail. The toys are donated to the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program, and the organizer says the point of the event is to provide new toys for families in need in the area. Online registration closes on 11 December.
The event is open to the general public and needs only a car or light truck with a working odometer, per the organizer.
The rules
Every car carries at least a driver and a navigator. Passengers are allowed up to what the car can carry safely, and each must sign the waiver and register. Bring a valid driver’s license and proof of current liability insurance. The car must meet basic safety standards: working lights, brakes, wipers and horn.
Anyone under 18 needs a digital SCCA minor waiver. The rally runs under the Motorsport Club of North Jersey’s general instructions plus the event’s own photo-clue instructions.
