Sasha’s Children’s Book Run Rally is a charity road rally run by the Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America. It starts at BMW of McKinney on Saturday 21 November 2026 and benefits Scottish Rite for Children, per the organizer’s registration page. It also honors Sasha Lanz, a long-time former leader of the region’s RoadRally program.
The organizer says all car enthusiasts are welcome and no rally experience is needed. It is the third event of the 2026 Texas Region RoadRally season, sanctioned by SCCA as a social rally, so it does not count toward regional or national championship points.
The schedule
Registration and check-in at BMW of McKinney, 2601 N Central Expressway, run from 9:30am to 10:15am, per the organizer, which notes the times may be adjusted. A mandatory safety briefing is at 10:20am. Cars leave the start at 10:30am plus their car number in minutes.
The route is about 70 miles on paved roads in Collin County and takes about 2 1/2 hours. It finishes at Crow’s Country Cafe, 113 W 4th Street, Anna, where teams gather for a drink or a meal, announcements and awards. The organizer publishes no end time.
What kind of rally it is
This is a GTA rally, for games, tours and adventures. Teams follow a set route and answer questions from signs they see along the way, with puns and wordplay in the clues, and can score bonus points by completing tasks. SCCA’s RoadRally guide describes GTA rallies as course-following events without average speeds or checkpoint timing.
A rally school runs on Zoom on 15 November for new teams, with a recording posted afterward, per the organizer. Classes are First-timer, Novice, General and an optional Master class.
What it costs and what to bring
Entry is $40 per vehicle, with a $15 discount for annual SCCA members. A $5 late fee applies to anyone not pre-registered on MotorsportReg. Same-day registration is allowed, but pre-registration is encouraged. Online registration closes on 20 November.
Each person in the car is asked to bring two new books for Scottish Rite patients aged 5 to 16. The organizer lists look-and-find books, board books, chapter books and Spanish-language books as welcome. Books are collected at check-in.
At least one person in each car must be an SCCA member. Non-members are signed up as weekend members during registration, which the organizer says includes a $15 coupon toward an annual membership.
The cause
Scottish Rite for Children is a pediatric orthopedic center in Dallas and Frisco that treats sports injuries, fractures and some arthritic, neurological and learning disorders, and treats patients regardless of ability to pay, per the organizer’s description.
The rules
Every car needs at least two people old enough to read, a driver with a valid license and proof of insurance, and a car in good mechanical condition. Any occupant under 18 needs an SCCA minor release signed by a parent. The organizer states that speed is not a factor. Any street-legal vehicle is welcome, from sports cars to family cars and antiques.
