Caffeine and Octane calls itself “THE NATION’S LARGEST MONTHLY ALL MAKES, ALL MODELS CAR SHOW,” and whatever the ranking, it is the biggest standing meet in the Southeast. Its own page gives the schedule: “THE FIRST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH,” 9am to 11:30am, at Town Center at Cobb, 400 Ernest W Barrett Parkway NW, Kennesaw, Georgia 30144. The show sits “between JCPenney and Belk on the Food Court side of the mall.” The venue’s own event page lists the next one: Sunday 1 November 2026.
Not Perimeter Mall
Most listings still send people to Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody. The show left in 2022. Its first Kennesaw show was 7 August 2022, per Atlanta News First, and the Cobb Chamber announced the move that July with a quote from CEO Bruce Piefke: “Town Center at Cobb has been a community favorite shopping destination for over 30 years.” The organizer’s page, the venue’s calendar and this page agree: Kennesaw.
When to arrive
Earlier than 9am if you are showing a car. The organizer’s page says gates open “as early as 7:30 am” for the Central and Exotics lots and that you should “Arrive no later than 8:30am to park in this lot” for the Central Lot. Its shop page states the deal in capitals: show cars “MUST ARRIVE PRIOR TO 8:30 AM AND STAY IN PLACE UNTIL THE SHOW CONCLUDES AT 11:30 AM.” The mall itself opens at 11am on show days.
Weather does not cancel it: “CAFFEINE AND OCTANE IS A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT,” per the organizer’s shop page, which adds that “If management postpones the event, credits will be issued” for paid parking. Piefke told The Drive in 2018 that “True enthusiasts come out rain or shine.”
Which gate and which lot
Access is via Town Center Drive along the mall’s Ring Road, and the organizer’s page assigns the gates: Gate One for all cars, Gate Two for classics only, Gate Three for all cars and special display passes, and the Exotics Gate for exotics and Porsches. The Exhibit Lot is ungated, for clubs and anyone who needs to leave early. The Central Lot is the one with the no-exit rule: “NO EXITS FROM THE CENTRAL LOT BEFORE 11:30 AM.”
Spectators and show cars pay nothing: “C&O is free to attend for spectators,” and showing a car needs no registration. Two paid options exist, both optional: “Premium Spectator Parking” at $15 and “Reserved Showcase Parking” at $20, the latter “available to private owner vehicles only.” Free parking surrounds the mall.
The rules
In the organizer’s capitals: “NO REVVING, NO BURNOUTS, NO LOUD MUSIC, NO CRUISING, NO ADVERTISING WITHOUT SHOW APPROVAL.” Only official sponsors may advertise. Large groups may not park together in the Central Lot. Motorcycle parking is not available in the Central Lot. The show is pet friendly. The noise rules have history: in 2018, at Perimeter Mall, Reporter Newspapers covered neighbors asking for quiet, and the banners that year read “Respect our neighbors. No loud revving” and “Be smart. No burnouts.” A Dunwoody police sergeant told the paper that “The event organizers have been very responsive and have asked attendees to keep their noise down several times.”
How it started
The organizer’s page says it is “Celebrating our 20th year.” Piefke told The Drive in 2018 that “Caffeine and Octane began in 2006” and that the founders were “a retired Delta Airlines pilot and a few other friends including Skip Smith.” ClassicCars.com Journal filled in the ownership: it began in a Panera Bread parking lot, AutoTrader “purchased it from the founders,” and “after about two years they offered the opportunity to me to purchase it,” Piefke said. By the Perimeter Mall years the show drew, per the Journal, “more than 2,500 vehicles and as many as 20,000 spectators.” The organizer’s current claim is “over 2,500 vehicles and 25,000+ fans every month.”
Before you go
Decide whether you are parking in the Central Lot before you leave the house, because once you are in, you are in until 11:30am. Come through the gate for your kind of car, keep the throttle closed in the lot, and remember that 25,000 people on a mall’s property is a privilege the organizer has already lost once.
