September through May

Peoria Cars and Coffee is the West Valley’s community meet, and its organizer says exactly when and why. The Vistancia Car Club’s site gives second Sundays, 8am to 10:30am, September through May, at “Lowe’s Home Improvement, 25311 N Lake Pleasant Pkwy, Peoria, AZ 85383.” The season, in the club’s words: “we take the summer off for the Arizona heat.”

The dates

The club lists the whole season: 13 September, 11 October, 8 November and 13 December 2026, then 10 January, 14 February, 14 March, 11 April and 9 May 2027. The next one is Sunday 8 November.

What it costs and what it asks

Nothing, and nothing. The club’s FAQ: “Free to show or attend — no registration required,” and “There are no displaying vehicle fees or membership dues.” Its home page puts the philosophy in three sentences: “No dues. No judging. No exclusivity.” The FAQ explains the omission: “We intentionally avoid those things to keep the environment at our events very laid back and more community focused.” T-shirts are cash only and donations are optional. No noise rules are posted.

Where to park

In the Lowe’s lot at Lake Pleasant Parkway and Happy Valley Road. The store opens during the meet, so leave the entrance lanes and the contractor pickup clear.

How it started

The club’s own account: “The idea came together in August 2020, and the first Peoria Cars and Coffee meet ran that October.” The founder is Chris Rohde; Chris and Kyle organize the events, per the FAQ. The first meet drew about 20 cars; the club now counts “300+ On top months.” It belongs to the Cars and Coffee Coalition coordinated by Arizona Cars and Coffee, and its coffee comes from a vendor called Fueled by Cars and Coffee. The Peoria Independent covered it in November 2022 with a line that is still the club’s pitch: “Owning a specific type of automobile is not a prerequisite.”

Before you go

Check the club’s site for the date and arrive at 8am; the lot is full by nine on a cool morning. Bring cash if you want a shirt. Do not come in June, July or August, because nobody else will.
