From the valley to the Sierra

The Sacramento Valley Region’s home page dates it to 1962 and maps its territory from Galt in the south to Yuba City in the north, and from Vacaville in the west to Soda Springs in the east; the Membership page ends it at Donner Summit. The home page counts 1,700 members. The region’s history page links a 1965 Porsche Panorama feature on the then-new club and the Drifting Back columns of Larry Wilson, its historian through 2017 and a PCA member since 1961. The PCA region finder returns the region for downtown Sacramento, Davis, Roseville and Folsom.

Breakfast, pints and the Porschettes

Per the Saturday Breakfast page, members meet on the first Saturday of most months at Brookfields, 11135 Folsom Boulevard in Rancho Cordova, with a 7:30am start. Porsches and Pints, per its own page, meets on the third Thursday of each month at a different craft brewery in the region and welcomes people who are simply interested in Porsches. Dinners come up periodically on the events calendar.

The Porschettes, a women’s group founded in 2023, organize winery and restaurant lunches, socials at members’ homes and museum visits. The region also runs tech sessions, concours as part of the Zone 7 series, and a charity golf tournament that funds scholarships and awards for students training in automotive technology.

Autocross at Thunderhill

The 2026 autocross series runs at Thunderhill Raceway Park, 5250 Highway 162 in Willows, 7 miles west of Interstate 5; the autocross page says to ask at the entrance for the Large Skid Pad. Porsche Rocklin sponsors the series. Instructors and loaner helmets are available, registration on MotorsportReg opens 30 days before each event, and the page adds a bonus event at Cal Expo. Sacramento Valley also belongs to the Zone 7 autocross series of 8 to 10 events a season, hosted with Golden Gate, Loma Prieta, Sequoia and Redwood.

Road rallies

The Road Rally page describes time-speed-distance rallies, where a driver and navigator try to reach checkpoints at exactly the right moment at legal average speeds, and the lowest score wins. A notice for the 2026 TSD series, open to members of every region, describes Saturday rallies of 90 to 120 miles, under four hours, with the first car away at 9:31am. Entry is $25 a car and needs a street-legal car, a navigator and a phone or tablet running the free Richta GPS Competitor app.

The Drifter

The region’s newsletter, The Drifter, comes out monthly, per its Newsletters page, with issues posted through September 2026. Voting for the 2027 board of directors opened on 1 November, with candidate statements on the home page.

New members

Anyone who has joined PCA or transferred into the region within the past 12 months is invited on a New Members Tour, per the Driving Tours page, to meet other new members and the club’s officers. Name badges, the Membership page notes, are no longer mailed; members say which event they will attend and pick them up there. PCA assigns members to a region by zip code, and Driven Life’s Porsche Club of America page covers national dues and the Test Drive program.
