Porsche Club of America, Potomac Region

The Potomac Region, PCA’s first, covers Washington DC, northern Virginia, southern Maryland and West Virginia. Brunches in Gainesville and Glen Echo, Drive and Dine, autocross and DE at Summit Point and VIR, and PCA’s oldest club race.

The Founders’ Region

The Potomac Region calls itself the Founders’ Region of the Porsche Club of America. Its About Us page dates the region to 1955 as the club’s first official chapter and puts membership above 2,800, across northern Virginia, southern Maryland, West Virginia and Washington DC. Its history page traces it to a meeting of Washington-area Porsche owners in Alexandria, Virginia, in February 1955. Potomac belongs to PCA’s Zone 2, alongside neighbors such as Riesentöter and First Settlers.

Two brunches a month

The easiest start, per the region’s own pages, is brunch. No registration is needed, and newcomers, out-of-town PCA members and visitors from any region are welcome.

The Virginia brunch is on the first Saturday at Firebirds Wood-Fired Grill, 14020 Promenade Commons Street in Gainesville, just off I-66 at exit 43A. The restaurant opens at 11am, so the advice is to arrive a few minutes early to park together and look at the cars; Porsche parking is behind the restaurant. The Maryland brunch is on the third Saturday at 11am at The Irish Inn at Glen Echo, 6119 Tulane Avenue, at the top of the ramp from the Clara Barton Parkway’s Washington/Glen Echo exit. Parking is in front of and behind the inn, with overflow in front of Glen Echo Park, and the group sits outside or in a private room upstairs depending on the weather.

Drive and Dine, rallies and concours

Drive and Dine outings pair a country drive with lunch, dinner or a winery, usually from a meeting point in Virginia or Maryland. The region calls its run to Morais Vineyards and Winery in Bealeton, Virginia, its traditional last drive of the year: from Ashburn through Loudoun and Fauquier counties to a winery whose garages hold Porsches, Ferraris, American muscle cars and a large Citroën collection. The 2026 run is on 15 November, staging at InterSport Performance in Ashburn, where members drop off winter coats for students at Washington High School in Charles Town, West Virginia.

The calendar also carries a fall gimmick rally and Gathering of the Faithful, a display-only concours for air-cooled Porsches from 1953 to 1998 at The Manor at Silo Falls in Brookeville, Maryland. Awards there go by people’s choice in six classes, and other Porsches park in a free corral. The 2026 holiday party is on 12 December in Falls Church.

Track days and autocross

The drivers’ education page, updated in April 2026, lists events on six circuits, including all three at Summit Point in West Virginia, VIR in Alton, Virginia, Watkins Glen and New Jersey Motorsports Park. Newcomers need prior track time, one of the region’s spring or fall High Performance Driving Clinics, or its autocross school. A Driver Ambassador Program assigns volunteers to drivers new to Potomac DE. Other makes are welcome; SUVs and trucks are not. Potomac also calls itself the birthplace of PCA Club Racing and sponsors the club’s oldest continuously held club race, run at Summit Point every year since 1992.

The About Us page calls Summit Point the region’s home away from home for autocross. Per the autocross page, a regular season event costs $70 pre-registered for PCA members and $85 for non-members, with no walk-ups. The day ends with results, prizes and a raffle, and class awards go out at the Potomac Awards Banquet.

New members

Potomac’s Join PCA page sends people to pca.org and suggests kicking the tires at a brunch first. Its New Members page explains the rest: the weekly email blast that follows joining, event sign-up through the region’s MotorsportReg page, quarterly open board meetings and the club magazine, Der Vorgänger. Driven Life’s Porsche Club of America page sets out national membership and dues.
