The Frickland Frolick is a winter road rally run by the Land O’ Lakes Region of the SCCA. It starts at the Team Oil Travel Center in Spring Valley, Wisconsin on Saturday 12 December 2026 and ends across the river in Reads Landing, Minnesota, per the organizer’s registration page.
The organizer says it is the last rally in the 2026 Central Division RoadRally Championship, and that SCCA in the area runs about one rally a month all year. It is sanctioned as an SCCA Regional Tour.
The schedule
Sign-in is at 11am at Team Oil Travel Center, W2555 WI-29, Spring Valley. The first car leaves at 12:01pm. The organizer gives an approximate finish of 6:15pm at Reads Landing Brewing Company, 70555 202nd Avenue, Reads Landing, Minnesota. Total length is about 175 miles.
Weather and roads
The organizer is frank that it may be dry and it may snow. Most of the roads are paved, with some gravel. The route runs into the dark of a December afternoon, so working lights matter.
What kind of rally it is
The organizer describes easy course following and simple timekeeping aimed at newcomers and experienced rallyists alike, and says a team can compete even if its odometer reads a little off. Mileage is measured by GPS and scoring uses independent GPS transponders. The Rabbit Rally app is available but not required. SCCA’s RoadRally guide describes Tour rallies as time-speed-distance events with straightforward course following.
There are two classes: First-Timers, for drivers who have never run a road rally, and Been There Done That, for everyone else. If five or more teams enter, each gets two rally plate stickers.
What it costs
Entry is $50 for annual SCCA members. Non-members can take a free trial membership for a first rally, or a $20 weekend membership for returning non-members, per the organizer. Online registration closes the night before.
The rules
Every car needs a driver and a navigator and must be street legal. The organizer lists what must work: headlights on high and low beam, parking lights, taillights and brake lights, horn, wipers, turn signals, mirror, foot and parking brakes, seat belts for both, and tires in sound condition. A safety triangle, first aid kit, tow rope and fire extinguisher are optional.
