BMW Car Club of America, Sunshine Bimmers Chapter

Sunshine Bimmers is the BMW CCA chapter for north and central Florida, around Orlando. It runs Teutonic Tuesday dinners, backroads drives to museums, a coast-to-coast Sunrise to Sunset drive, an Oktoberfest and a holiday dinner and toy drive.

What the chapter covers

The Sunshine Bimmers Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America draws its members from “the north and central Florida areas,” per its Chapter Info page, which shows the territory on a map. It is one of 16 chapters in the club’s South Atlantic Region. Its mailing address is in Windermere, outside Orlando, and the club’s directory lists it in Sanford.

The chapter grew out of the original Central Florida Chapter, which was split into Florida Suncoast and Sunshine Bimmers. The Chapter Info page dates the split to the mid-1980s; the Florida Suncoast Chapter‘s history page says both new chapters were approved in March 1983. Its stated mission is to promote members’ interest in motoring and touring and to promote safe and skillful driving.

Teutonic Tuesday and the drives

Teutonic Tuesday is the chapter’s dinner night, held at restaurants in different parts of its area, such as Miller’s Ale House in Winter Park and, for Brevard County members, Grills Riverside in Melbourne, with appetizers at 6pm, dinner at 7pm and RSVPs through Facebook. Car shows pair with meals too: Hurricane Grill & Wings in Apopka has blocked off parking for the chapter and offered a discount to diners who say they are with the BMW CCA.

Backroads drives head for museums and small towns. A recent one ran from Lake Square Mall to lunch in Marion County and a tour of the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing in Ocala, and the chapter’s list of ideas includes auto museum drives around Orlando and Ocala, a Micanopy drive, karting and charity work such as a beach clean-up. Its calendar has also carried the Mount Dora cars and coffee at the American Legion hall.

Sunrise to Sunset and the holiday dinner

The Sunrise to Sunset drive crosses the peninsula in a day, from sunrise on the Atlantic to sunset on the Gulf, with dinner the night before. The 2025 edition met at Esther Street Beachfront Park in New Smyrna Beach and drove mostly State Route 44; for 2026 the chapter planned a member’s favorite route from Flagler Beach to Crystal River. December brings the annual Christmas party, billed as the Holiday Dinner & Toy Drive, with limited seating and RSVPs by email, and the chapter has held an Oktoberfest in Sanford.

Summer is quiet by design: a 2025 chapter post says Sunshine traditionally takes a break from organizing drives in the summer heat and resumes planning in the fall.

Where events are posted

At the start of November 2026 the events list on the chapter’s website showed nothing upcoming, and its newest news post dated from August 2025. The chapter points members to its Facebook group for current events and keeps an email newsletter sign-up on the home page.

Chapter Info links to the chapter’s own page on the benefits of joining, and the national BMW CCA page has dues and the join form. With two neighboring Florida chapters split from one, the chapter’s map and the BMW CCA chapter finder settle which one an address falls in. Other meets around the city are in the Orlando cars and coffee guide.
