What the chapter covers
The Florida Suncoast Chapter (FSC) of the BMW Car Club of America is based in Palm Harbor, north of Clearwater, and it covers far more of Florida than its name suggests. In 2019 FSC merged with two other Florida chapters, First Coast and Gulf Coast. Their charters were retired that May and FSC took over their newsletters and back-office work, per the chapter’s consolidation page.
The result is a chapter organized into 12 areas, each with appointed area governors who set up local meetings and host events: Naples and Marco Island, Fort Myers and Cape Coral, Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte, Sarasota and Bradenton, St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Tampa, Lakeland, Gainesville with Ocala and The Villages, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Panama City and the Forgotten Coast, and Pensacola with Fort Walton Beach. The Tampa governor post was listed as open on November 1, 2026.
In 2022, BMW Clubs International Council named FSC its Club of the Year, an award the chapter’s site describes as recognizing growth, social responsibility and club events.
Its history
FSC’s history page reaches back to the Central Florida Chapter, which held its first meeting on January 23, 1976, when 11 people gathered for dinner at a Bonanza restaurant in the Orlando area. That chapter was approved on March 27, 1976, and stretched from Daytona Beach along Interstate 4 to St. Petersburg and Sarasota. By 1982 it was short of leaders, and members agreed to split it in two. Florida Suncoast and Sunshine Bimmers were both approved in March 1983.
The monthly rhythm
The upcoming events page shows a steady pattern across the Gulf Coast. FSC Cars & Coffee meets on the first Saturday at BMW of Sarasota, 5151 Clark Road, from 9am to 10am. BMW of Ft. Myers hosts cars and coffee on the third Saturday, 9am to 11am, with non-members welcome. FSC also meets monthly for cars and coffee at Fields BMW Lakeland, 4285 Lakeland Park Drive, with coffee and a breakfast snack.
Socials fill the weekdays. FSC and the ZSCCA share a monthly lunch at Linger Lodge in Bradenton, with an RSVP for the restaurant’s headcount. The St. Petersburg and Clearwater area meets for dinner in the back room of Circo Italian Kitchen on 34th Street South.
Picnics, Sebring and long tours
Every year the chapter reserves a pavilion at Fort De Soto Park in Tierra Verde for a picnic and people’s choice car show; the November 7, 2026 picnic is its fifth. FSC supplies the burgers and hot dogs, the park charges $5 a car, dogs and alcohol are not allowed, and each party needs at least one BMW CCA member.
The chapter also brings a BMW corral to the HSR Sebring 12 Hour Classic at Sebring International Raceway, with group drives to the track from several areas. The December 5, 2026 corral is its 16th.
Multi-day tours are a signature. The 2027 calendar lists North Meets South in Apalach 2.0, February 18 to 21, 2027: a southern group leaves from Fort Myers and an eastern group from Gainesville, meeting for lunch at Peck’s Old Port Cove near Crystal River and staying at Wakulla Springs Lodge before converging on Apalachicola with the Panhandle group. The Magnificent Mountain Driving Tour 6.0 follows on October 21 to 24, 2027, based at Maggie Valley Creekside Lodge in the North Carolina mountains.
Staying in the loop
FSC members, including those who came over from First Coast and Gulf Coast, are subscribed automatically to the FSC eWeekly email, which carries a weekly letter from the president. The sign-up form asks which of the 12 areas you are closest to, so the email can be tailored. For national dues and the join form, see Driven Life’s BMW CCA page.
