BMW Car Club of America, Lone Star Chapter

The Lone Star Chapter is the BMW CCA chapter for Dallas-Fort Worth and North Texas, founded in 1977. It runs eight autocrosses a year at Lone Star Park, a spring HPDE in Cresson, day tours across Texas and a December Toy Run.

What the chapter covers

The Lone Star Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America was founded in 1977 by about 25 enthusiasts, per its membership page, and now counts more than 1,300 members. Its territory runs across a large part of Texas, from Texarkana to Amarillo, though most members live in Dallas-Fort Worth. The mailing address is in Lewisville. It is one of three BMW CCA chapters in Texas, with Houston and Tejas.

The chapter describes itself as social first: tours, autocrosses and driving schools are all “really social events with a twist,” and it calls the chapter a family activity.

Autocross at Lone Star Park

Autocross runs from March through November, with a winter break. The 2026 schedule has eight points events, all at Lone Star Park, each running 9am to 4pm. Drivers usually get five runs in the morning and five in the afternoon, each cone down and out costs one second, all makes are welcome, and the top three in each class get trophies at year’s end.

Registration opens about three weeks before each event and closes at 6pm on the Wednesday before, or when the waitlist fills. There is no on-site registration, because run groups and work assignments are set in advance. The final 2026 round is Sunday, November 15, with registration closing November 11.

Tours

Touring is the chapter’s other backbone. Tourmeister Raymond Mimick has led tours since 2015, and an average tour draws about 16 cars. Members talk on FRS/GMRS radios, channel 20 with privacy code 24; the chapter used CB radios from its founding until July 2020, and its radio page explains which handsets to buy.

The year opens on January 1 with the Hair of the Dog Tour, which leaves from the Kroger Marketplace in Mansfield and ends at Del Norte Tacos in Godley. Spring brings a bluebonnet tour when the flowers cooperate, and December closes with the Toy Run, which the calendar calls an annual tradition. The 2026 calendar still lists a November 14 run toward Possum Kingdom Lake ending at Mary’s Cafe in Strawn, and the Toy Run on December 5.

Track days and other gatherings

For track time, the chapter runs a one-day spring HPDE at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, held as the Nick Papayianis Memorial; students alternate between classroom sessions and track time with an instructor. Each year members also bring their cars to a Show and Shine along the route of the BMW Dallas Marathon.

Cars and Friends, the chapter’s Sunday morning meets, opened the 2026 calendar with January gatherings from 10am to 11:30am at Shipley’s Donuts in North Richland Hills, The Human Bean on Midway Road in Carrollton and Dunkin’ on Independence Parkway in Plano, with “no need to RSVP, no need to wash your car.” The same calendar closes by telling members to watch for the return of Cars and Friends, typically on Sundays around the Metroplex, so check the chapter’s Facebook events before going. Board meetings, open to all members, run every other month on Sunday afternoons.

Who belongs

Per the membership page, any BMW CCA member who lives inside the chapter’s boundaries is automatically a Lone Star member. Tour sign-ups go to tours@lscbmwcca.org, and HPDE and event details arrive in the chapter’s monthly email. National dues and the form are on Driven Life’s BMW CCA page.
