Founded on 4 July 1976
The San Gabriel Valley Region, SGVR, dates its founding on its home page to 4 July 1976 and describes itself as a 501(c)(7) nonprofit based in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, in PCA’s Zone 8. The home page counts 857 members, 606 of them primary members and 251 co-members, and 37 members with registered PCA Juniors. The Porsche Club of America’s region finder returns SGVR for Pasadena’s 91101 zip code.
First Saturday breakfast at the airport
The Monthly Breakfast page sets it on the first Saturday of every month at Annia’s Kitchen at the San Gabriel Airport, 4233 Santa Anita Avenue in El Monte. People gather in the parking lot at 7:30am and head in at 8am, with no set end time. Breakfast is $20 a person for one item from a club menu that runs from a breakfast burrito to chilaquiles. The breakfast partner, House Automotive, matches what members spend into the club’s general fund, and each month a Belt Winner is chosen at the table. People who are not members yet are invited to come and meet the club first.
Cars and coffee
The FAQ suggests the free monthly cars and coffee, usually on the second Sunday, as a first event. Its location changes, so the FAQ advises checking the events page or emailing the region beforehand, and bringing a chair, since there are usually no benches. The weekly news posts also point members to the Rusnak Porsche Classic Cars and Coffee in Pasadena.
Club drives and radios
Club drives head to places such as Paradise Cove, the Channel Islands, Big Bear, Vasquez Rocks and Idyllwild, sometimes overnight. The drive leader collects insurance waivers at the start, and the FAQ says not to bring a pre-signed one. Groups range from under 10 cars to more than 30, split into smaller groups when needed.
Radios hold it together. Leads and sweeps talk on dedicated club channels, SGVR-1 to SGVR-5, and every driver monitors a shared SGVR-X-Group channel. The club uses GMRS frequencies shared with FRS. The FAQ explains the $35, 10-year GMRS license, which radios are legal to use, and that members can have a radio programmed with the club’s channels in a few minutes at the monthly breakfast.
The drive season ends in November; the 2026 finale on 14 November pairs lunch at the Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club with a private tour of the Cerveny Collection in Camarillo. The holiday party follows on 5 December, from 6pm to 11pm, with tickets on sale through 26 November. The FAQ also covers concours and PCA’s concours judging school.
Joining
The FAQ’s route in: join on the national PCA website and state that the San Gabriel Valley Region is the one wanted. Members of another region can transfer to SGVR or hold a dual membership through the national office, by phone or the Join form. Anyone still deciding can email the region, and a member will reach out with the best first event. National dues and eligibility are set out on Driven Life’s PCA page.
