Porsche Club of America, Peachstate Region

Peachstate, the Porsche Club of America region for metro Atlanta and north Georgia, counts nearly 4,000 members. Second Monday dinner socials, autocross at Hampton, HPDE, and Rennfest at Brasstown Valley each Labor Day weekend.

Atlanta’s region since 1960

The region’s home page puts membership at nearly 4,000, from Peachtree City to North Georgia, and places Peachstate in PCA’s Zone 3. Its history page tells a comeback story. Ten PCA members formed the region in the autumn of 1959 after an organizational dinner in Atlanta drew 30 people, and the charter came on 23 January 1960. By late 1966 it had fewer than 30 members. Leonard Turner was declared president in 1967 by the nine still active, and by that year’s holiday dinner dance there were 121. In 1968 Peachstate won the Ferry Porsche Trophy as PCA’s Region of the Year.

The same page counts Porsche racing manager Huschke von Hanstein as the region’s first honorary member, and records that Steve McQueen carried a Peachstate card for a couple of years after signing up at Sebring in 1970. The PCA region finder returns Peachstate for downtown Atlanta, Marietta and Gainesville.

Dinner socials and coffee mornings

The monthly Dinner Social falls on the second Monday at a different restaurant each month and doubles as the members meeting. Per the Social page, the evening recognizes new members and first-time attendees, covers a little club business and sometimes brings a speaker. Most socials are on the north side of town, where most members live, and a separate monthly meet-up runs in the Peachtree City area. Porsches and Coffee and Porsches and Brews are the casual ones, and the calendar carries Peachstate Kaffee mornings at places such as Paris Baguette in Buford. Dinner socials and coffee meets need no registration, and kids are welcome at every social.

The Holiday Party comes in December, and the 2026 party is on 5 December at the Atlanta Marriott Peachtree Corners. Early in the new year a Members Party honors the previous season’s competition winners and previews the coming calendar.

Autocross and track

Autocross runs seven events a year, from March or April to November, at the speedway in Hampton. The autocross page calls it Atlanta Motor Speedway; the calendar uses its newer name, Echo Park Speedway. Each driver gets 10 runs across two run groups, with a drivers meeting around 9am and check-in from about 8am. There is no lunch break and little shade, events run rain or shine, and loaner helmets are on hand. Any street-legal car and any licensed driver over 16 can enter, and spectators watch free after signing a waiver.

HPDE, per the track page, is open to licensed drivers over 18 in a street or race car, with no SUVs or trucks and no experience needed. Novices keep one instructor for the whole weekend, PCA membership is not required though members pay less, and helmets must be Snell M or SA2020 or later. The page lists HPDE at Atlanta Motorsports Park and the region’s own club race, the Peachstate 225.

Rennfest

Rennfest is the region’s Labor Day weekend retreat in the North Georgia mountains, based for several years at Brasstown Valley Resort and Spa in Young Harris. Friday is for concours prep and the Welcome Party. Saturday brings the concours in the morning, a rally in the afternoon and a non-competitive tour. Sunday offers two guided tours, the bigger one on roads such as the Cherohala Skyway, and the awards banquet, where the Pink Pig trophy is handed out. On Monday the cars parade back to Atlanta. The Rennfest page dates the event to 1968 as the Rebel Rennfest; the history page places the first one in 1969 at Executive Park in northeast Atlanta.
