What the chapter covers
The Rocky Mountain Chapter (RMC) of the BMW Car Club of America was founded in 1974 and now marks 50 years of motorsport, per its home page. Most members live on Colorado’s Front Range, and events are centered near metro Denver, ranging at times from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs. Its mailing address is in Broomfield.
The chapter is open about who belongs: “We don’t all own BMWs, but we all enjoy the camaraderie of the club.” Its membership page welcomes people “who have yet to discover the joys of the ultimate driving machine.”
Driving schools
RMC holds its HPDE events at High Plains Raceway and also lists Pueblo Motorsports Park, a 2.2-mile road course, among its venues. Any car is welcome, not only BMWs. Students alternate classroom sessions with track time, with an instructor in the car each session. New students start in the D group and move up through C and B to A, and A-Solo drivers need a chief instructor’s approval to run without an instructor.
Registration is on MotorsportReg under the HPDE event type. Each driver signs a digital waiver with a photo and should keep a screenshot of the completed waiver as proof at check-in. The chapter’s forms cover check-in, flag meanings, tech inspection and where to get it done.
Autocross is on hold. The chapter canceled its 2026 autocross season and is asking for volunteers so it can return in 2027.
Ice Gymkhana
Each winter RMC moves car control onto a frozen lake. The annual Ice Gymkhana runs a cone course on Georgetown Lake in Georgetown, just off I-70, with a full-size skid pad beside it for practice between runs. The chapter says to put “Georgetown Bighorn Sheep Viewing Area” into a GPS; that is where the mandatory driver meeting is held and where cars enter and leave the ice. All-wheel-drive SUVs and rear-drive sports cars both take part. Tim Schultz has organized it for several years, continuing a family connection to the event that goes back to the late 1980s.
Through the year
The annual Oktoberfest is the one day, in the chapter’s words, “where every corner of the club meets,” with BMWs from vintage to modern on display for members to vote on; the 2026 edition was at Bruz Beers. Each June the Race to the Clouds Weekend, run with Winslow BMW, combines a rally to Colorado Springs with behind-the-scenes access at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb’s Fan Fest.
Social events include an RMC Day at the Adam’s Polishes cars and coffee, with a reserved club showcase and advance registration (the meet itself is covered in the Lafayette cars and coffee guide), and Cars and Rockies with sponsor Autowash, a reserved section at Coors Field two or three times each summer, open to all vehicle types. Pre-season helmet tech sessions double as socials. The chapter’s Street Survival school for teens covers emergency braking, skids and Colorado’s weather.
Newsletter and joining
RMC’s newsletter is the Motorsport Report, published quarterly; the archive on its site runs to winter 2023, and a separate email list carries current news. Membership is managed nationally, which the chapter notes makes a transfer simple after a move. The BMW CCA page has current dues and the join form.
Is there a BMW club in Denver?
Yes. The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the BMW CCA centers its events near metro Denver, with a mailing address in Broomfield. Other local meets are in the Denver cars and coffee guide.
