What the chapter covers
The Roadrunner Chapter calls itself “The official BMW Car Club of America chapter for most of Arizona.” Its About page says it was incorporated in 1987 as a not-for-profit volunteer organization and serves central and northern Arizona, including Yuma, Flagstaff and Prescott as well as the Valley of the Sun. A four-member executive board runs it, with a larger board of 6 to 12 members. Its mailing address in the club’s directory is in Phoenix.
Breakfasts, dinners and drives
Each month the chapter holds breakfasts or coffee meets and dinners. Driving tours run most months, in the valley in winter and in the mountains in summer, often to out-of-the-way destinations.
The breakfasts are Saturday mornings with registration on the chapter’s site, which asks for the first name of everyone coming so it can print name tags and make sure members have their lanyard and hat. The next one on the calendar is Saturday, November 14, 7:30am to 9am, at Eggstasy, 6990 E Shea Blvd in Scottsdale, west of Scottsdale Road.
The Devil’s Highway
The chapter calls its overnight trip to Alpine in eastern Arizona its marquee event. The draw is the road originally designated Highway 666, which the About page says includes 90 miles of winding, twisty roads. The fall loop as the chapter published it leaves Alpine east into New Mexico on Highway 180, stops at the Heifer Basin overlook and Glenwood, drops to Clifton, Arizona, on Highway 78, breaks for lunch in Morenci, and climbs back to Alpine on Highway 191, about 210 miles in all.
Spots are limited to 20 cars, base camp is the Escudilla Mountain Cabins, and the caravan gathers in Fountain Hills. After too many no-shows, the chapter now takes a $50 per person deposit, refunded in full at sign-in, so restaurants are not left with empty tables. The event page is blunt about driving: “If you want to have a drag race or test the limits of your BMW then please sign up for our next track event.”
Concours in the Hills
The chapter lists Concours in the Hills on its calendar for Saturday, February 20, 2027, from 10am to 3pm at Fountain Park in Fountain Hills, and urges members to show their BMWs. Per the listing, the show fills the park around the lake, spectator admission and parking are free though the walk can be long, club members get a discounted registration to show a car, and proceeds go to the Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund. The listing calls it a relaxed show rather than a formal “white gloves” concours.
How chapter membership works here
The chapter’s dues page says the national club sets and collects dues and returns only a small part to chapters. Members are placed in a geographic chapter by home ZIP code unless they ask for another, and Roadrunner asks members in its area to make it their first chapter before adding interest chapters such as the M Chapter or the E30 Chapter. Any chapter after the first is added by phone with the national office, not online.
The dues table on that page shows older national prices. Current figures and the join form are on the BMW CCA page. The home page also lists local discounts at dealers, shops and detailers, and other standing meets in the area are in the Phoenix cars and coffee guide.
