BMW Car Club of America, Los Angeles Chapter

The Los Angeles Chapter of BMW CCA, founded in 1970, publishes The Whispering Bomb and sponsors the SoCal Vintage BMW Meet in Van Nuys. It runs autocross, clinics, tours, tech sessions and member socials across Southern California.

What the chapter covers

The Los Angeles Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America was founded in 1970, per its About page, which puts membership at more than 3,500. The chapter invites members to “all things Bimmer across the Los Angeles area,” and its mailing address is on Verdugo Boulevard in Montrose. Its events have ranged from Van Nuys and Glendale Boulevard in Los Angeles to Santa Ana, Irvine and Huntington Beach.

Since October 1970 the chapter has published its own quarterly magazine, The Whispering Bomb, alongside the national Roundel. The website’s archive of issues covers 2015 to 2017.

What it runs

The chapter’s event lineup is organized into autocross, car control clinics and schools, driving tours, social events, tech sessions and board meetings. As of November 1, 2026, every one of those categories on the website shows no upcoming events; the chapter sends current news by email and through its Facebook group and its Instagram account, @bmwccala.

Its most visible yearly commitment is the SoCal Vintage BMW Meet at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, where the chapter is a Vintage Sponsor. The chapter’s listing calls the meet the largest independent vintage BMW gathering in North America. It welcomes BMWs from the 1960s through the 1990s, from the Neue Klasse and 2002 through the E30 and E36, plus BMW motorcycles, with Driver’s Choice awards; the 2026 edition was the 19th.

Past listings show the rest of the range. Oktoberfest evenings for members have been held at Red Lion Tavern on Glendale Boulevard and at K1 Speed Irvine, where the karting night sold out. The chapter has taken members to BMW Performance Center West at Thermal for skidpad, autocross and hot laps, to a BMW corral and Turn 5 hospitality at Laguna Seca, to BMW Takes Flight at the Lyon Air Museum in Santa Ana, and to the Huntington Beach Concours, where members could enter under CCA rules or simply display.

The site also keeps a track inspection form, local classifieds and a page on hosting an event with the club.

Getting the news

The chapter uses Constant Contact as its main way of announcing events, and members who are not receiving those emails can sign up through the form on its home page. Some socials are members-only and ask for a BMW CCA card or number at the door. The home page sends prospective members to the national site to join the Los Angeles Chapter; on Driven Life, the BMW CCA page lays out dues and the join form.
