Born at a meeting in Cheyenne
The Rocky Mountain Region’s history page starts in the summer of 1957, when Fred Blume of Cheyenne and Jim Pickens of Denver each wrote to PCA and were put in touch. Twenty-two Porsches, mostly from Denver, drove to the first organizational meeting at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne on 13 October 1957. The region was chartered in May 1958 with a territory that took in all of Colorado, Wyoming and Utah and northern New Mexico.
Today it covers Northern Colorado, Southeastern Wyoming and the southwestern tip of Nebraska, with members in Western Kansas, and the history page counts more than 2,600 members. It belongs to PCA’s Zone 9. Porsche Parade has come to the region four times: Colorado Springs in 1966 and 1988, Steamboat Springs in 1998 and Keystone in 2009, the last three shared with the Alpine Mountain Region. The PCA region finder returns Rocky Mountain for downtown Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, Golden and Parker.
Breakfast clubs and cars and coffee
The club calendar runs two breakfast clubs. Breakfast Club North meets at First Watch, 2809 South College Avenue in Fort Collins, from 8am to 10am. Breakfast Club South meets at The Perfect Landing Restaurant at Centennial Airport, 7625 South Peoria Street in Englewood, from 8am to 11am. The calendar also carries the Lafayette Cars and Coffee hosted by Adam’s Polishes, from 7am to 10am at Flatirons Community Church on West South Boulder Road, and a Lone Tree cars and coffee on Park Meadows Drive from 9am to 11am.
Officer and board elections take place at a November social, held in 2026 at Man Cave Colorado in Westminster. The year closes with a holiday party at Maggiano’s Little Italy on South Clinton Street in Englewood, plus a separate one for RMR-West members at Ironbridge Golf Club in Glenwood Springs.
High Plains Raceway
High Plains Raceway is the region’s track. Its Colorado Race Tracks page places it on US Highway 36, 17 miles east of Byers, about an hour from Denver, and also gives directions to Pueblo Motorsports Park and La Junta Raceway. A post dated 13 October 2026 lists the 2027 schedule at High Plains: HPDE weekends on 1 and 2 May, 5 and 6 June, 17 and 18 July and 9 and 10 October, and a club race on 18 and 19 September.
The Beginners Corner walks a first-timer through it. Register on MotorsportReg, take the car to the tech inspection held at a local shop about 10 days before the event, and bring a helmet with a Snell 2015 rating or later. Wear cotton, ideally a white or light shirt, and not yellow, blue or red, which corner workers could mistake for a flag. On track, passing is controlled and a Two Spin Rule applies.
Per the autocross page, Rocky Mountain and the Alpine Mountain Region together host several autocrosses a year, including Eiskhana, an autocross on ice, in winter and an autocross school in spring.
Giving back
The Charity page counts 38 years of the region’s part in the Concours d’Elegance and Exotic Sports Car Show each June, which raises money for Ability Connection Colorado. The board also sets aside funds each year for donations of $100 to $500 to charities members put forward.
Joining
Membership starts with the Porsche Club of America, the About page explains: enroll through PCA and choose Rocky Mountain Region as the local region. A membership team answers questions about joining or transferring in. The region’s newsletter, High Gear, is posted online, most recently the September 2026 issue. National dues and the join process are on the PCA club page.
