Porsche Club of America, Maverick Region

The Maverick Region is the Porsche Club of America in Dallas-Fort Worth and 48 North Texas counties, founded in 1962. Its Mavs and Mochas, member pop-up coffee meets, HPDE at G2 and Eagles Canyon, All Member Party, Founders Day and Slipstream.

The area Maverick covers

The Maverick Region’s home page describes its area as the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and the surrounding North Texas counties. Its About page lists 48 counties, from Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant out to Wichita and Smith, with most members within 50 miles of Dallas or Fort Worth. The home page puts membership at about 4,500 and calls Maverick the largest region in PCA’s Zone 5 and the second largest of the club’s regions.

How Maverick began

The history page says the region was “born” in November 1962 at the Fiesta Best Western Motel in Arlington, with its PCA charter issued on 24 December 1962 to 15 charter members. Its first event was a Mystery Tour to Waco, followed by gymkhanas and time-speed-distance rallies. Maverick hosted the Porsche Parade in 1987, with Terri Davis as the first woman to chair a Parade, and Jan Mayo chaired the 2004 Parade in Fort Worth. The region ran its first modern PCA-style driver education event in 1999 and held Club Races at Texas Motor Speedway and later at MotorSport Ranch in Cresson.

Coffee meets

Mavs and Mochas is the region’s cars and coffee for Porsche owners. Per its page, it usually falls on the second Saturday of the month at locations around DFW, features a different Porsche model or a car show each time, and is open to people who are not PCA members. The October edition is given over to breast cancer awareness, a theme the region’s MavTalk podcast says it carries in Slipstream that month too.

Members also run pop-up coffee meets that the site marks as not sponsored by PCA: Fridays at 9am at Trio Coffee in Flower Mound, where regulars bring lawn chairs; Fridays at 8am indoors at Central Market on West Freeway in Fort Worth, where the page asks people not to park by neighbors’ no-parking signs; and Sundays at 8:30am at Weir’s Furniture in Plano, which it calls dog-friendly and which often ends with brunch or ice cream.

Track, autocross and tours

The HPDE program is built for first-time drivers, with classroom instruction, one-on-one coaching and some women-only run groups. Its schedule uses G2 Motorsports Park in Anna, Motorsports Ranch and Eagles Canyon Raceway, with registration opening about a month ahead on ClubRegistration.net. The MavTalk episode on track days gives the costs as $595 for two days and $375 for one, with helmets for rent at about $15 a day, a free tech inspection, other sports cars welcome and free entry for spectators. Autocrosses are hosted and insured by Equipe Rapide, not by Maverick or PCA.

Driving tours last about three hours and cover 60 to 100 miles to a destination, with routes shared through the ROADS by Porsche app, per the tours page.

The Maverick year

The All Member Party each spring is where new and returning members meet the region’s chairs. It has been held at the Oak and Ivy venue on FM 428 in Aubrey, where the page notes a gravel entrance, and it is preceded by an All Member Driving Tour from Gunter that opens the touring season, with touring and modern groups to choose from.

The People’s Choice Car Show is on 21 November 2026 at Texas Harley-Davidson in Bedford, free for guests, with show-car registration at $25 and proceeds to Hope House. Founders Day follows on 3 December 2026 at Porsche Grapevine, 1280 Texan Trail, 7pm to 10pm, with registration opening 1 November. It is where the region presents its James Shoffit Award and its Maverick Woman Behind the Wheel award.

Hope House, a domestic violence shelter in Mineral Wells, receives the region’s largest donation each year, a cause member Lanean Hughes brought to Maverick in 1993. Mavs Care, the charity group, adds Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer, Stone’s Throw Farm, Lena Pope and the National Breast Cancer Foundation for 2026. Maverick Women Behind the Wheel organizes women’s HPDE, tours, tech sessions, happy hours and a December cookie exchange. Members receive Slipstream, the region’s magazine, in print and digital form.

New members

Per the Join PCA page, new members sign up on the national site and are placed in a region by home address, so nothing more is needed to become a Maverick, and the region charges no fee of its own. Owners whose Porsche is still on order can follow PCA’s instructions for joining without a VIN. What national membership costs is on Driven Life’s PCA page.
