Chapter · the Puget Sound area and the Pacific Northwest, WA

BMW Car Club of America, Puget Sound Chapter

The Puget Sound Chapter, which calls itself the Puget Sound Region, is the BMW CCA chapter for the Seattle area. It runs HPDE and car control clinics at Pacific Raceways, wine country driving tours, member meetups and the Zündfolge newsletter.

What the chapter covers

The BMW CCA Puget Sound Region is listed by the national club as its Puget Sound Chapter, with a mailing address in Bellevue, Washington. Its home page reads “Serving the PNW since 1969,” and its About page describes a volunteer-run, not-for-profit chapter that has supported BMW drivers in the Pacific Northwest for more than 50 years.

The board meets monthly, generally on the fourth Tuesday at 6:30pm, and any member can attend by asking the board secretary for an invitation. The About page gives a secretary email for that, though its 2026 officer list shows the secretary seat open.

Track days at Pacific Raceways

Most of the chapter’s driving happens at Pacific Raceways in Kent. Its 2026 HPDE schedule ran seven dates from March to September: six at Pacific Raceways, including an advanced and intermediate day and two twilight HPDEs on summer evenings, and one at Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton. Registration opens on MotorsportReg eight weeks before each event.

HPDE drivers must be BMW CCA members, at least 18, with a valid license. Hardtops and SAVs are eligible. Soft-top convertibles and cars with fully removable hardtops are not, while factory retractable hardtops are now allowed. Helmets must be Snell 2025SA or 2020SA, with a few rentals available, and the car needs a tech inspection within 28 days of the event. Novice and intermediate drivers get an instructor in the car, and the chapter runs in all weather.

Car control clinics

The chapter’s car control clinics run on a flat paved area: emergency braking, braking on a curve, a slalom, a wet skid pad and a handling oval, with coaching before and after each run. No helmet and no tech inspection are needed, only a valid license, plus a mandatory Zoom ground school the week before. Optional parade laps of the track follow lunch, and in the afternoon participants can borrow a helmet for a ride at speed with an instructor. The 2026 clinics shared Pacific Raceways dates with HPDE in March, April and September.

Tours, meetups and tech sessions

Driving tours start from points around the Sound and range as far north as Canada and east to the wine country of Chelan County, often ending at lunch. The South Sound tour finishes with parade laps at Ridge Motorsports Park. The 2026 tours ran from a June Willamette Valley wine tour to Lake Chelan in September and Red Mountain in October, and the tours page asks for new tour leaders and a tour chair.

Member meetups move around the Puget Sound area, often with food and drink, and the chapter describes them as family-friendly. Tech sessions cover cleaning, restoration, track readiness and modifications. Special interest groups run an E30 picnic, M car events and coupe tours.

Zündfolge

The chapter’s newsletter, Zündfolge, has been published since 1975. It now lives on the chapter’s website as member-written articles, from driving technique to ownership stories, alongside Z-Mail and the chapter’s social accounts. A volunteer portal lists open roles for upcoming events.

At the start of November the chapter’s site listed no upcoming events and no 2027 driving schedule. Track entry requires BMW CCA membership, and the national club page explains dues and the join form. For local meets in the meantime, see cars and coffee in Seattle.
