What the chapter covers
The Oregon Chapter calls itself “The Official BMW Car Club of America for Oregon and SW Washington.” Its mailing address is in Portland, and its events run from Lake Oswego, Gresham and North Portland to Hood River, Eugene and across the Columbia to Ridgefield and Brush Prairie, Washington.
How it began
The chapter’s history page tells a pointed founding story. In the fall of 2009 Brian Cone set out to form an Oregon chapter, although an established local BMW group opposed the idea. An October 2009 meeting at a pizza restaurant on Barbur Boulevard drew more than 60 people and about three hours of sometimes heated debate over whether to form a chapter or simply join the Portland group. By the end, the history page says, it was clear to everyone that a chapter would be formed.
Ron Woodruff sketched the logo on a napkin, a road winding up to Mt. Hood, with the tagline “Under the Hood.” Petitions went to the national club in January 2010, and at the national congress in Dallas that year the chapter was introduced as BMW CCA’s 67th. Its first event was a dinner at the Hunan Pearl in Lake Oswego. The founders set out to run it with financial disclosure to members and board meetings open to all of them.
What it runs
BMWs and Coffee is the chapter’s regular morning in Lake Oswego, at Oswego Grill on Centerpointe Drive, from 8am to 10am on Saturdays the chapter posts on its calendar. There is a Starbucks on site, the group heads into Oswego Grill for brunch afterward, all BMWs are welcome and registration is not required.
Eugene has its own BMWs & Coffee, in the parking lot just south of the Chipotle at 2840 Willamette Street, on Saturday mornings posted one at a time.
Socials are on Wednesday evenings, 6pm to 8pm, at a different pub each time; recent ones have been at McMenamins St. Johns Theater & Pub in North Portland and Migration Brewing in Gresham.
Drives are members-only and come with a mandatory drivers’ meeting. A recent fall route left Hood River east through Mosier into the hills, ran twisty canyon roads beyond The Dalles and returned by way of the Rowena Crest Viewpoint; the chapter warned it was not dog-friendly or kind to anyone prone to motion sickness. Members have also driven in convoy from the ilani resort in Ridgefield to MotorFest at Alderbrook Park in Brush Prairie, Washington.
The site lists a concours among member events and local dealer and shop discounts among member benefits, and it keeps member classifieds. As of November 1, 2026, the events calendar shows nothing scheduled past October.
Bringing a friend
The socials welcome a guest who may be interested in joining, which makes a Wednesday evening the chapter’s own suggested way in. The home page links to the national join page and offers a mailing list for event news; the BMW CCA page has the dues.
